{"id":200,"date":"2020-06-30T16:54:53","date_gmt":"2020-06-30T16:54:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wendycarter.website\/?p=200"},"modified":"2020-06-30T16:54:53","modified_gmt":"2020-06-30T16:54:53","slug":"strength","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wendycarter.info\/?p=200","title":{"rendered":"Strength"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Happy Canada Day Everyone!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A few years ago, a young teenaged driver took the hill on our Churchville road too sharply and landed in our front lawn.\u00a0 Our tall weeping evergreen was hit and laid low.\u00a0 Gary propped it up with a steel post and rope.\u00a0 Recently he decided the tree was strong enough to take out the post.\u00a0 After struggling some time, he knew he couldn\u2019t get it out.\u00a0 His chest has not fully recovered from surgery a year ago.\u00a0 He gave up and went inside.\u00a0 While outside gardening, I saw our neighbour across the street and decided to go over to borrow his muscles.\u00a0 He readily agreed, came over and quickly pulled out the post as if it were a toothpick.\u00a0 Maybe Martin just needed to put a finishing touch on Gary\u2019s previous work of strength.\u00a0 Hmmm, probably not.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Canada Day\u2019s celebrations happen again tomorrow which will be very different from other years.\u00a0 It has been sad to watch our nation\u2019s strength laid low over the past six months due to COVID \u2013 19.\u00a0 Our economy is suffering.\u00a0 Our citizens are in turmoil over added restrictions to contend with.\u00a0 Most of our children and grandchildren have not been in school.\u00a0 There have been too many deaths among our senior population. Numerous areas of day to day living are being questioned. \u00a0Needless to say, our future is very uncertain particularly with the influence of the U.S.\u2019s terrible struggles too close by.\u00a0 Is it safe for our two granddaughters to return to their universities in Pennsylvania come August? \u00a0We definitely need God\u2019s strength to keep going.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Our Hillside Church in Milton also needs God\u2019s strength to keep going.\u00a0 The funds for our summer student employment for outreach have not arrived yet, nor have we been able to recruit two workers for the task.\u00a0 Thankfully, the program has been extended until December 31.\u00a0 Please would you pray for Scott Lockhart, our Outreach Director as his intention is to move to Milton from Sarnia sooner than later?\u00a0 This will require housing and employment. We would really like to have an official launch of the church this fall.\u00a0 Gary continues to faithfully put out our weekly Sunday service (facebook.com\/hillsidechurchmilton).\u00a0 We have no idea who and how many are watching for a few minutes or the whole presentation.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>With all of our questions and uncertainties it is good to refresh our memories about God\u2019s constant promises for strength.\u00a0 I Peter 5:10 is such an example, \u201cAnd the God of all grace, who called you\u00a0to his eternal glory\u00a0in Christ, after you have suffered a little while,\u00a0will himself restore you and make you strong,\u00a0firm and steadfast.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Blessings to you and your family,<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Wendy<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Wendy.carter@kainos.org<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Happy Canada Day Everyone!
