\u201cHow would you like to learn a song?\u201d\u00a0 I asked one Sunday morning at our Hillside church.\u00a0 Rachel quickly nodded her head \u201cyes\u201d and Robyn responded with a \u201cno.\u201d\u00a0 I began singing the old Sunday School chorus \u201cThis Little Light of Mine, I\u2019m gonna let it shine,\u201d three times, followed by \u201cLet it shine.\u201d three times as well.\u00a0 Do you remember singing this song as a youngster?\u00a0 Before Rachel and I had finished, Robyn joined in.\u00a0 A few minutes later after I had handed out some craft materials for them, Robyn was working away and humming the catchy tune over and over.\u00a0 Go figure. Now, isn\u2019t that like human nature for the hesitant?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

That same morning Scott Lockhart, our pastor for outreach, showed a great children\u2019s video called \u201cThis Little Light of Mine\u201d.\u00a0 We watched a lit cartoon light bulb marching down a dark street singing away.\u00a0 At the end of the video three lit light bulbs were marching together.\u00a0 That\u2019s multiplication for you.\u00a0 In John 8:12 Jesus declares, \u201c,,, I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but, will have the light of life.\u201d\u00a0 It is amazing that multitudes of people have followed Jesus through the centuries since he was alive on earth.\u00a0 They took on becoming little lights to spread his good news which we can learn about today in the Bible. That is our goal in establishing Hillside Church in Milton.\u00a0 Please pray that we will remain patient enough to see this goal accomplished.\u00a0 We had a visit for the first time by one young man last Sunday.\u00a0 We hope we will see him again.\u00a0 On Saturday, July 15, 6:30-8:30, we are planning a dessert and coffee vision meeting.\u00a0 We would love to have you join us so you can better pray for our future.\u00a0 Connect with Scott (scott@hillsidechurchmilton.ca<\/a>; 437-326-5990) for more details as to location.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another one of our goals has been fulfilled.\u00a0 Yay!\u00a0 I will be sending the last amount of funds through our charity (Kainos International Ministries) raised from a GoFundMe page for our friend, Thomas in Myanmar.\u00a0 His orphanage is up and running, thankfully.\u00a0 Recently he was able to purchase a washing machine and this new money will go to buy LED lights so reading can happen safely during the evenings instead of using dangerous candles.\u00a0 Eight orphans have a new home and are attending school. They are all excited as they get to go to a nearby park for a picnic for the first time in their lives.\u00a0 There are smiles on their faces.\u00a0 Because of a lack of education, Thomas reports that some of these children can\u2019t even memorize one sentence.\u00a0 I\u2019m sure he and his wife will see great progress over time. This orphanage has become a shining light in its community. \u00a0Wouldn\u2019t it be wonderful if we could duplicate this process in another location so more orphan lives can be changed for the good?\u00a0 We\u2019ll see! https:\/\/MyanmarOrphans.ca<\/a>. \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our beloved Canada needs our prayers these days with too many places on fire and people having to be evacuated from their homes.\u00a0 Our son Rob and his family were helping make 350 sandwiches the other night for evacuees that came down from Fort Albany on the Hudson\u2019s Bay coast to their little town of Moosonee.\u00a0 The town has remained safe but they needed to keep the fire away from the hydro lines that powers the communities further north.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
