\u201cThat\u2019s going to be so cute when it is finished!\u201d I exclaimed to Gary. We have been watching the restoration of our neighbour\u2019s little historical run-down cottage across the street from us in Churchville over the past few months. When it is completed, another smaller cottage nearby will be restored as well. There are numerous details that have had to be attended to e.g. the addition of water and electricity, new siding, landscaping etc. Could you please pray for the owner of this property who is suffering with stage 4 cancer but is very resistant to hearing about God\u2019s love for her?<\/p>\n
Recently, about nine emergency vehicles all of a sudden came screeching down the hill into Churchville past our house. We still don\u2019t have a real handle on what happened that evening that required so much attention. The next day we did notice yellow tape along the riverbank near our local park. It could be that someone was in trouble on our Credit River. I am just very thankful that we have a dedicated rescue and restoration system that responds so quickly to anyone in need. It is sad to watch all the fire fighters throughout Canada, and even other parts of the world, working endless hours to combat ever-expanding wildfires, often without seeing much restoration for their difficult labour.<\/p>\n
Gary and his missionary friend, Richard Fleming (from the Fellowship of Evangelical Baptist Churches in Canada) are back working together on their Breakthrough Pathways project (breakthroughpathways.org). They are developing a methodology to help pastors and other leaders raise up candidates for church leadership. Please pray that they will be able to find enough funding to get it started.<\/p>\n
Gary and I have been involved in one way or another in about twelve church starts throughout our ministry years. There is nothing more fulfilling to become acquainted with newcomers connected with those works who want to turn their lives around to following Jesus with resulting restoration and Christian maturity perceived in them as the years go by. That is why it has been rather heart-breaking to not see much growth in Hillside Church over the past few years. We long to find some solid Christian families who will come and work with us. The lives of residents in our ever-growing Milton desperately need to be restored. It has been difficult to capture their attention and get them to believe that we can be trusted and provide truth that they have been looking for. Please pray for Scott Lockhart as he continues to connect with those who have shown some interest. And pray we will believe in the verse from I Peter 5:10 which promises that \u201cthe God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.\u201d so that we can see restored lives for God\u2019s glory.<\/p>\n
By the way, I mentioned last month about Gary\u2019s aortic aneurism, his appointment for the surgeon isn\u2019t happening until Oct.
