Power and Creativity

Dec 31

Do you stand in awe of God’s power and creativity?  Do you also stand in awe of the power and creativity that God has implanted in humankind?  If you can, take the opportunity of visiting the Niagara Falls area as Gary and I did in November. You must tour the Niagara Parks Power Station, now open to the public.  “For 100 years, this power station harnessed the powerful energy of the Horseshoe Falls and turned it into a great source of electricity.  Its generators were the largest of their kind when the plant first opened in 1905 and supplied power to Fort Erie and Buffalo until the plant was decommissioned in 2006.” What a wonderful accomplishment!

As with the apostles of old we really need to see your prayers being answered as God works powerfully in our Hillside church in 2022 to create turned-around lives for His sake.  Acts 4:33 exclaims, “With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And God’s grace was so powerfully at work in them all.”  It seems we have survived one struggle after the other and now the big question is, “Should we shut down our services for a few weeks while we wait for Covid to settle down once again?”  Maybe this first Sunday in January will be the last for a while.  COVID is spreading so quickly.  Our granddaughter, Kaiya contracted it last week and passed it along to our daughter, Sara this week.  We don’t want to see that happen to our attenders.

When our children were young while living in St. Catharines, you would often find our family ship-gazing from our car at one of the eight locks along the Welland Canal after our Sunday evening church service.  We were tiny compared to one of those powerful man-made beasts that slipped by.  On this same fall vacation we managed to chase down one of these amazing ocean liners. We waited in a lock parking lot and watched it get bigger and bigger as it approached us from a distance. It brought back fun memories especially when munching on an ice cream cone.

“Our joyfulness is inexpressible words, flowing tears of our joy.” declares our good friend, Thomas in Myanmar.  He has received $10,000 CDN that we sent, has purchased property and is looking forward to start building the foundation for his orphanage.  Please pray that this project will be a powerful testimony in his suffering community.

It is almost 2022.  What powerful creativity will we see that will last for a century or more like the Niagara Parks Power Station as God works through us all in the days to come?

Stay healthy! Happy New Year!
