Come and See

Mar 31

“Come and see!” I yelled quietly to Gary as I was standing in our kitchen and looking out the window.  Sitting on a post of our porch was a young hawk.  Through the winter months we have hung cages containing suet on either side of our portico.  We tried to put them somewhere so that the pesky squirrels wouldn’t get the food.  Somehow those clever beasts managed to get the cages open and steal their prize away which was almost as big as they were.  Any way, the hawk must have wanted to come and see what was happening.  Did he think he could snatch one of the little sparrows away while pecking at the suet?  He didn’t stick around long enough for that to happen.

I mentioned last month that Scott Lockhart has several outreach events planned this year for Hillside Church.

1/ Literature being mailed to previous Milton contacts inviting them to join us for our Easter service.

2/ An Inquiry dessert meeting scheduled for Saturday April 26, 3-5, at Swiss Chalet.

3/ Church promotion at Milton’s SummerFest June 7.

4/ Summer day camp at a private school just outside of Milton – details being worked out.

5/ September 7 Hillside Relaunch Sunday

We do long to have folks from Milton come and see what our church is all about, but like the hawk it is hard to catch their attention before they are gone.

The property is purchased!! Thanks to God’s goodness and the generosity of a few donors Thomas in Myanmar has in hand the deed to the land he has just bought.  We are still raising some funds so he can have a well redug and add solar capability to run the generator to water the plants.  At least for now he has two acres to develop as he sees fit to help orphans.  I’m sure his neighbours will want to come and see what he is doing with all his new activity.

Sadly, you have probably learned about the horrific earthquake that hit Myanmar and Thailand a few days ago. It will affect too many suffering already.  Thankfully, Thomas and his family are safe along with another contact we have in Yangon.

Gary and his colleague Richard Flemming are soon ready to publish a book they have developed for their Breakthrough Pathways program.  Please pray that it will encourage church leaders to find potential leaders in their churches. (Breakthroughpathways.org)

The fifth season of The Chosen was in theatres this weekend.  Gary and I saw the first two episodes which was very intense but highly recommended.  Episodes 3 to 8 will be released in the next couple of weeks.  Dallas Jenkins, the director operates his charity called Come and See taken from John 1:46.  Philip, Jesus’ disciple is encouraging his friend Nathaniel to come and see Jesus.  Interesting!

Yay, no flooding or ice in our village.  How about where you reside?

Don’t get fooled tomorrow!
