God Sees the Little Sparrow …
Feb 29
Happy Leap Day Everyone!
Little brown and beige sparrows always seem to confuse me. The other day when grocery shopping, surprisingly, I spied one on the floor scrounging around for a few crumbs while a couple of his relatives were flitting about up in the ceiling. How did they get in the grocery store? Normally, we see these God creatures in our backyard in the bushes near our seed station. 20 or maybe 30 flock together there particularly in the winter. I still can’t figure out who the leader is yelling “Get going!” In a second they land on the station but then in another second they all fly back to the bushes. How do they not bump into each other? They beat synchronized swimmers “wings” down!
Last Monday evening we were invited to the pre-screening of the Christian movie “I Still Believe.” It is the compelling story of Jeremy Camp, a well know Christian singer. It was fun sitting in our local theatre among a flock of Christians who were laughing and joking together before the movie began. It will be shown in theatres across Canada starting March 13. By the way if you want to see free movies before they are released register yourself at faithfilms.ca. I guess producers have realized that there is a large Christian market out there. For Easter April 8, 9 & 11 they are also bringing to the screen “Sight & Sound’s spectacular original stage production” called Jesus put on in Lancaster, PA. (I should be on their marketing team!)
Gary continues to be busy with all his various projects. He is sending out a weekly six-minute video to about 80 on his list. If you want to be added let him know – gary@hillsidechurchmilton.ca. He is getting some terrific feedback in response as the weeks go by to help him in his research. He just keeps plugging along doing his thing like the sparrows.
We are currently encouraged with what is happening at Hillside Church. In the days ahead we will share with you more of what is transpiring behind the scenes. Thank you for your prayers. As transitional pastor, Gary’s sermons are at Facebook.com/hillsidechurchmilton if you are interested. One event many of us have been enjoying together is our weekly Home Group Online session for Bible study and prayer. We all sit in front of our own computers or phones in our own homes at a specifically appointed time. Travelling time and babysitters are not required. Modern technology (with some glitches) has won us over again.
Parents are always concerned about their children no matter their age. Our son Rob has suffered with a bothersome dizziness (vertigo) for over a week and our daughter Rebekah has been going through lots of scary tests to find blood clots in her lungs and legs. Thankfully, both have been cleared. Matthew 10:29 asks, “Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care.” Do you remember singing a Sunday School chorus about sparrows? Today, too many children don’t even know what Sunday School is.
“God sees the little sparrow fall. It meets His tender view.
If God so loves the little birds, I know He loves me too…”
Keep looking up – only another 3 weeks until spring!
