Hard Working
May 31
“She’s incredible!” I declared to Gary. We were looking in awe through our front living-room window at Mother Robin who was working extremely hard at building a nest. She had decided to put it on the top of one of our porch posts just underneath the ceiling. Father Robin, of course, stood on guard in the sumac trees along our driveway. She kept diligently flying in all her building materials – leafy branches, twigs and mud. It was rather difficult for her to keep them on the tiny shelf she was building upon, but still, she would splay her wings and pat the branches down with a little bit of mud. I can’t say I liked the big mess she was creating with her droppings on our porch floor. Gary decided to help her out by extending the shelf with another piece of wood. Excuse me, but she didn’t like that idea, so she moved on to the next post to start all over again. Much to our disappointment, after a week or so she finally took off to find another location which was probably the portico above our back door. God’s nature can be very entertaining; however, we were sad to learn that the duck eggs on our neighbour’s property I mentioned in my last blog, probably got snatched away by some huge wild turkeys sauntering by that I saw a few days later.
Next Saturday, June 6, from 12-8, Milton SummerFest is happening. Our lead pastor at Hillside Church is working with The Fellowship of Christian Farmers Canada to hand out walking sticks. Two Heritage students have also agreed to come and help along with Jack Fliestra, his father-in-law from Alliston. They will capture contact data on their cell phones via an application Gary has created for those interested in receiving more information about our church. It will take a lot of hard work to follow up on these leads for subsequent conversations so could you please pray that this will happen during the rest of the month?
Your prayers do get answered for the Lockharts are in the process of purchasing a van from our daughter, Sara and her husband for their ever-growing family. Chrissy, Scott’s wife is working hard as CEO for an organization, Aid to Women that helps out unwed mothers who want to keep their babies by providing diapers, bottles, formula , clothing etc. The organization is very grateful for a large unexpected amount of money received this week that was bequeathed in a will.
We always marvel at Thomas in Myanmar who continues to work hard at running his orphanage and his farm. He must contend with many hardships in this poor country, one being waiting in line for two hours to obtain gas for his motorcycle. It is discouraging that our whole world is suffering in this way.
I always like the story of Nehemiah in the Old Testament who was able to motivate the Israelites returning to Jerusalem after their exile to rebuild the city walls in 52 days. Now that took a lot of hard work by everyone involved. The y must have been extremely delighted to see what they had accomplished together.
God’s blessings to each one,
Wendy
