He Careth for You!
Mar 31
Spring Greetings from Churchville!
A few days before spring arrived in March we were hit with one last wintry blast. The ground was thickly covered in powdery whiteness. I happened to look out our bedroom window and spotted my first robin of the season pecking away at the berries on the sumac trees along our driveway. I was grateful he had something to eat for there was no way he could get to any worms in the frozen ground below. This picture reminded me of an ornate wooden plaque hanging on our hall wall which had hung in my parent’s home as well when I was a child. It reads, “Jesus always cares – ‘He careth for you.’” This verse found in the old King James version of the Bible in I Peter 5:7 has proven itself over and over again not only to our bird friends but to Gary and me and our families down through many a year.
This past Monday we laid to rest Gary’s brother’s wife, Doreen, at age 89 in Ajax, ON. She and Gordon had been married for 64 years, having dated since they were 15 & 16. Jesus always cared for them through Gord’s schooling to be a doctor, through Doreen’s years in Bible School, through the birth and raising of their four children, through 15 years of medical missionary service in Africa, through Gord’s liver transplant several years ago and through Doreen’s struggle with several health issues all during their married lives together. Gord patiently and faithfully cared for his wife to her last day even though he himself is suffering with Parkinson’s Disease. He was admitted to the same hospital a few days before Doreen died. Please pray for this man whose health is not good and is now left with a huge void in his life.
FebCentral, the Ontario region of our Fellowship denomination, is holding their annual convention on April 3rd & 4th at our home church, City Centre Baptist, Mississauga, ON. Please pray for the staff working long hours to make this convention happen, for their ongoing care of over 270 churches in Ontario and for unity and love between all the pastors and churches as they minister along side of each other in their various communities.
About a year ago our church started caring for a refugee family from Pakistan. This couple with three teenage boys invited us over for supper recently. It was interesting to hear their journey. The husband had been working as a missionary with Campus Crusade for Christ and the wife a teacher. Due to Christian persecution they fled to Malaysia where they awaited permission to come to Canada. He is now working as an Uber driver and she a part-time cashier at No Frills. Please pray that they will find better employment, better living accommodations and an opportunity to evangelize. They have much to offer their new homeland.
May Jesus care for you as you face any trials or difficulties at this time.
Warmly in Him,
Wendy
