God’s Touch of White

Mar 31

Early one morning Gary came bounding into our house after his walk and exclaimed, “I just saw something beautiful!”  His walk had taken him to a nearby pond where he had spotted four lovely white swans with black beaks and legs. Did you know that there are three types of swans in Ontario – Trumpeter, Tundra and Mute – and that they mate for life?  We have never seen swans in Churchville during the 19 years we have resided here.  Were these Trumpeter swans just popping in for a visit on their way to somewhere else or will their stay be permanent?  Some say that swans are often associated with purity and love along with symbolizing peace and beauty.  We could really use those positive traits in our messy world.

Since Easter week is upon us, another touch of God’s whiteness displayed before us is the much-beloved white lilies and white doves.  I must admit, however, that in watching some doves landing on our seed station in our backyard can be rather bullyish over their peers.  Also, when we think of Easter, we learn in Mark 9:3 when Jesus was praying in the garden of Gethsemane, “He was transfigured and his clothes became dazzling white, whiter than anyone in the world could bleach them.”  Interesting!

The people of our Hillside Church are very excited about this coming Easter Sunday.  Several years ago, we baptized a father in our Hillside Church congregation.  He had come out to church initially upon the invitation of our pastor’s wife. After a couple of years attending, he decided to become a follower of Jesus Christ. He wanted to show his friends and family members how important that commitment was to him.  Now his 14-year-old son wants to follow in his footsteps.  We will have a blended service with another church in Milton for this to happen.  Please pray for this young man that he will be passionate about Jesus for the rest of his life.  He has come a long way over the last few years that we have known him, but he still has a long way to go towards adult and Christian maturity.

Scott Lockhart, our lead pastor, continues to have good conversations with Heritage students.  There are only a couple of weeks left before classes are finished for another term.  Scott is looking for some of them to help us in June at Milton’s Summerfest where we hope to have a booth.  There’s another prayer request for you.

Here is a recent update from our friend Thomas in Myanmar.  He is still waiting for proper paperwork to be completed for acceptable licensing for his orphanage:

“We have harvested avocado and now we are planting white celery and kaihlan. It is so difficult to plan anything at this time because it is so difficult to buy diesel and gasoline in our country. We don’t know how we will survive continually for diesel and gasoline in the future. The flight can’t fly like before and the buses too. We are lining with our motorbike at filling station for many hours to get two liters of gasoline for a day.”

Don’t forget to watch Gary’s videos listed below plus The Chosen video series on the life of Christ are still alive and well.  Go to thechosen.tv to view the first five seasons and then it has just been announced that Season 6 will be released in the fall.

Resurrection blessings,

Wendy
