White Fields
Jul 31
Have you ever seen a field of buckwheat growing with tiny white flowers? It’s beautiful! Gary and I visited the Lavender Farm just outside of Milton recently – one of our favourite spots. Near a field of purple lavender buckwheat had been planted on well-drained soil. The contrast between the purple and white was lovely. I have never really paid much attention to this grain-like plant which is highly nutritious. My sister purchases dark coloured buckwheat honey and I’m sure you have heard of buckwheat pancakes. Gary is into making buckwheat porridge for breakfast and has actually lost some weight. As a good source of protein, fibre and being glutton free, buckwheat is beneficial for heart health, diabetes control, sleeplessness and energy. This adventure reminded me once again that you can never be too old to learn about something you never knew before.
Looking at this wonderful white field, it also reminded me about Jesus talking with his disciples in John 4:35. He encouraged them, “Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest!”
The town of Milton is a white field. Many are ready to hear about Jesus even though they have no idea who He is, what He is like or how He can change their lives for the good. Our three missionaries have made over 13,000 contact attempts and this week we have sent out our second mailing to over 500 contacts that have been made. If COVID obeys itself, we plan to launch Sept. 26. One of those missionaries, along with her husband, is going to help with music and children’s programming so we are encouraged. We are now holding Sunday services at Ned’s Restaurant as before.
Another white field to harvest is Myanmar where our friend Thomas is ministering. Times continue to be desperate there due to the terrible government and COVID. Too many are dying. This month we tried to send him money from our church but some how it got lost in the mail. Please pray that we will be able to get it to him soon. He needs it to feed his piglets that he wants to sell in August.
This coming week we are off to visit our son and his family in Moosonee for a week. It’s great to be able to resume travelling here and there again.
May God give you safe travels and good health. Thank you once again for your prayers and interest in our ongoing ministry.
