Standing Out

Apr 30

Hi Y’All!

Do you know much about heather? I don’t mean the female name but the low-lying shrub that is iconic to Scotland. I didn’t either until I bought 3 plants a couple of years ago. During the past two months they have been blooming wonderfully with a lovely, petite, pink flower in our front garden. What a stand out in an otherwise brown, icy/snowy background. I thought they were only supposed to bloom in late summer.

No, we haven’t sold our house as I mentioned in my last blog. We have only had one nibble which is surprising. Our heritage home does stand out because it is unique; however, someone will either want to purchase it or not. It is not a cookie cutter dwelling in the nearby subdivision. Thanks for your prayers on our behalf in that regard. We lost the Cambridge home we were hoping to purchase due to another offer. We are trying to take one day at a time while looking for God’s specific direction.

Our son, Rob, will be making another missions trip mid-May. This time it will be to Germany for a month. He and his team will be standing out as they minister to a multitude of Syrian refugees. What a great country to take on all these poor, needy people. Rob’s health has been quite good this past year. Please pray for preparations being made beforehand as well as open hearts and minds to hear the Gospel message that will give these unsettled people hope for their future. Also, please pray for his wife Jess and four daughters back in Moosonee. Jess has just started a new job working from home and a month is a very long time for any young family.

We continue to be very proud of Aaron Bouchard and Scott Lockhart, our Milton church planting pastors. They are developing a reputation as being dependable painting contractors, standing out in their new community. They have surpassed their April goal of $20,000 in sales. May’s goal is $30,000 and we won’t put it past them to reach that one too. Candice Lockhart has just finished her waitressing job at Kelsey’s. Sara Bouchard heads to Muskoka Bible Conference for a Fellowship Pastors’ Wives retreat May 4-6. May she gain encouragement and confidence from her peers at this annual event. Please remember Gary who is working on computer programming for massive church outreach this summer – not an easy task.

I also requested prayer for Pastor Joe Boyachek and his wife, who is indeed Heather, from Richview Baptist, Etobicoke last month. He has just returned home from a medical stay at Sunnybrook Hospital. Please pray that we will be able to help this church in some way through this crisis.

Standing out for His sake,

Wendy
