Determination or Just Plain Stubbornness

Feb 28

Have you ever been stared down by two large dark chocolaty-brown deer eyes?  The other day a couple of deer decided to saunter through our backyard up to our kitchen bay window.  They probably were determined to check out the bright flowers on my plants on the window ledge to see if they could snatch some tasty petals to snack on.  Did they understand that the glass wouldn’t really allow that?

About once a week a determined squirrel scampers up the wall portion underneath that same bay window to try and reach a plastic container of seed affixed to the window outside.  He then attempts to climb the glass, but in his stubbornness, he quickly learns that that is not possible particularly when I pound on the window to scare him off.  He and his buddies do get their fair share of seed from our seed station (Do they not know it is “bird seed?”) and from the suet containers hanging from a nearby tree even if they have to hang upside down themselves to retrieve their treat.  Oh well, even in my stubbornness I will never be able to chase away these pesky creatures.

Did you remember to look at Gary’s GoFundMe page (https://MyanmarOrphans.ca) for our friend Thomas in Mayanmar who is building an orphanage?  We have raised some funds but still need more for him to finish the electrical and build a well on his property.  He is one determined man with a compassionate heart for his country’s needy children.  Every $20 one-time gift will go a long way in achieving his goals for his self-sustaining orphanage.

After meeting for our Hillside Sunday services at Swiss Chalet for the past two months we are still very grateful for God’s answered prayers.  All we need is attenders to check us out who are very weary and distracted these days.  On the other hand, we do believe that having our own permanent space would be extremely advantageous.  Scott Lockhart is currently negotiating with a few people regarding purchasing a property on Main St. in Milton for our church use plus establishing a café (think nicer than a Starbuck’s) to help with operational costs and to reach into the community to develop relationships.  We would also like to allow social service organizations to meet in this facility during the week.  We have the possibility of an investor, but it still would need God’s miraculous hand of intervention on our behalf. We are determined like Ruth in the Old Testament (Ruth 1:18), who convinced her mother-in-law Naomi to let her accompany her back to her homeland of Moab, to reach out to our Milton neighbours in whatever way we can.  We will be tenacious but not stubborn like our squirrels.  We will keep you posted.  Thanks for praying!

Sincerely in Him,

Wendy
