Graduating
May 31
So, what is a traditional, life-changing event that frequently happens at this time of the year particularly for our children and grandchildren, nieces and nephews? That would be graduations. Out of our eleven grandchildren this year Gary and I have five graduating from university, high school or elementary school. We are very proud of all their accomplishments. They all want to grow up so quickly to move onto their next stage in life. I always find it interesting that as they do get older, we find them sitting in on our adult conversations and contributing very worthwhile points.
Due to our age, every year it seems a friend or acquaintance graduates from this earthly state to their heavenly home. For some this transition goes very easily while others suffer with a severe health issue that is not pleasant. The treasurer for our charity, Kainos International Ministries, recently was diagnosed with stage 4 terminal cancer. After quite invasive surgery, he was extremely upbeat on a telephone conversation we had with him. He was enjoying seeing God work all around him in various ways. Nothing is stopping him living life before he passes along. He married his girlfriend last weekend before he had to endure chemo treatment this week. This is a second marriage for both of them; they lost their spouses through death several years ago. They well know what they are facing along with the hope and comfort that Jesus promised in John 14:2, “My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?” What a great example on how to end life. He is finishing well.
Sadly, our application for the Canada Summer Jobs program has been rejected with no explanation. Scott Lockhart is checking out other sources for funding e.g. the Trillium Foundation. This Saturday, June 1 is Milton’s SummerFest celebration on the Main St of downtown Milton. He and other volunteers will be gathering contact information through the use of a survey. Please pray that we can connect with interested individuals who will eventually attend our church. Our new launch date is August 11. We are still very excited about our new server at Swiss Chalet who is reading the Gospel of John from the Bible that we gave her. Maybe she will graduate from being an unbeliever to a follower of Jesus by the time she finishes this book. By the way, we also told her about The Chosen series (thechosen.tv) on the life of Jesus. The 4th season, episode 1, is being aired this coming Sunday evening at 7:00 with the second episode being shown next Thursday at 8:30. The other 6 episodes will be available throughout the other Sundays and Thursdays of June.
We were able to raise funds for our friend Thomas in Myanmar to purchase school supplies and uniforms for his orphans to be able to attend school in June. Thomas is very excited as will we be when they graduate from this school to attend higher education and help move this vulnerable country forward in good ways.
We will soon be graduating from spring to summer. Enjoy the new season with relaxing holidays you might be able to take.
